Gretchin Danilene Cabarrubias

Danilene Gretchin Cabarrubias
Gretchin Danilene Cabarrubias was born in 1984 in Cebu City to parents Danny and Rizalina Cabarrubias. They nicknamed her “Chin-Chin”.

Her elementary years were spent in Basak Elementary School in Basak, Cebu City; her High School years in Cebu Institute of Technology (CIT). She earned a B.S. degree of Banking and Finance Management in CIT. Chin-Chin is currently employed by a Financial Institute based in Cebu.

Chin-Chin showed signs of singing talent when she was in grade 3.  The elementary choir which she joined won contest. Her presence in the High School choir also contributed to its recognitions. Gretchin admitted that she joined various singing contest in her early years and could not recall the details.  Gretchin was a member of the Sacred Heart Choir under Naila Ylaya-Beltran, but Chin Chin decided to set aside the choir commitment and focused on her work.

In 2007 she was a finalist to the 1st Hunino Songwriting Festival interpreting the composition of Fr. Jed Billones.  She has been a 5 times finalist/interpreter to the Original Marian Songwriting Festival, organized by World Apostolate of Fatima (WAF).  Gretchin won the 2nd place in Environmental Pop Music Festival organized by the DENR, interpreting the composition of Fernando Rabutan.  Her latest achievement was interpreting the composition of Eugene Tan in “Halad Awit sa Birhen sa Regla” which won the 3rd place.

One of her memorable experience was when their choir performed in a “concert for a cause” at the Fuente Osmena rotunda for the victims of St. Bernard landslide; their choir performed at the birthday of Cebu Governor Gwen Garcia with President Gloria Arroyo in attendance.

One of her exciting experience was when she went to Australia not for a singing engagement, but for a two-month tour to visit her relatives.
Chin Chin would not elaborate in her too-personal life but she says she is currently in a relationship.

Chin Chin’s favorite singers are Carol Banawa, Charlotte Church, Celine Dion, Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Juris of MYMP and Regine Velasquez.
