That was my dilemma few years ago when recording studios were not known to me. I wrote songs and when it’s done I always ask the same questions over and over again. Where would I record this? How much would it cost me? How long will it take? What’s the procedure?
I remember some guys recommended Mutya Recording Studio, it was so popular then but I learned that this recording studio does not merely focus on its recording studio but sound system rentals. I wanted a studio that solely attends recording session and not be distracted by some other things.
It took me some time searching for recording studios until one day I stumbled upon a column of Sam Costanilla’s “Spotlight” where he announced that a newly-opened recording studio in Labangon was available. I went to this studio, Soundtraxx Recording Studio and met the owner Gani Villarojo, he is very dedicated with his work. This was where my first studio recorded song for a Cebu Pop Music Festival entry was made. From there I learned about Phoenix Glide Recording Studio also in Labangon. Galen Salvador, the owner was warm and knowledgeable. He was trained in the U.S. in this field of work. I also did some recordings in Studio 795 Recording Studio in Jakosalem. The owner Manny Lapingcao, a prominent liturgical composer was friendly and sharing. Because of Fiesta Mundo, I was able to visit Backyard Recording Studio in Lahug. This studio specializes in recording band sessions. The owner, (I apologize for not remembering the name) is open, frank and has lots of business thoughts in mind. Musikinesis Recording Studio in Trans-Asia building is one of a kind with regards to versatility. The owner Elvis Somosot does not hold his opinions, criticism and advice when it comes to music. He is a genius and really knows what he’s doing. “Salonga Recording Studio” in Jakosalem has upgraded its technology. Ompong Chiong is proud to show you his latest gadgets. He is also opinionated when it comes to recording issues. I share common interest with him during recording sessions – snacks. You’ve got to see Jad’s Recording Studio in Banawa. Even though you have to make an extra effort to reach there but the innovations and style will amaze you. The owner Jad Bantug is a nurse but has more inclination to music.
