Hiniusang Simbahan (The Recording)

Jad - The studio owner and technician himself

March 30, 2009
We were informed by text that the recording for the song “Hiniusang Simbahan” will be onMarch 29, 07:00 PM. We were to meet at Jollibee Banawa but when I got there, the building was dark, it is under renovation. Sam Costanilla, Naila Beltran and Jude Gitamondoc were already there so we proceeded to another food joint in Banawa, The Red Moon. We ate supper and we were joined later by Daryl Leoung and Yammy Sadaya.
After dining we continued to a residence in White Hills where the recording studio is located. The studio was not so big but the equipment was modern and up-to-date. The acoustic was appreciable. The studio is owned and operated by Jad Bantug, also a composer, a musical arranger and a nurse.
After we arrived, we reviewed and practiced the song twice before considering the take. Daryl went in first, I went next, followed by Yammy and the last one to record was Sam. Naila and Jude’s task were the technical. It didn’t take us long to do our takes considering that each one of us has a considerable amount of singing and recording experience. We were serious and focused during our takes as we had a deadline to beat. After our respective takes, we went in together for the group take. The mood changed because someone burst into laughter during the take for unknown reason. We had to do retake because of it. Laughter is contagious, we had to control it and stay focused.
We finished the recording at around 09:30 PM but Jad had to edit and mix the tracks which took another hour and a half. We were totally done by 11:00 PM. It was a fulfilling evening. This is history in the making. We thanked each other and we parted ways.
This newly recorded song will be distributed to all the Roman Catholic churches in the Province of Cebu, beginning tomorrow March 30, so that the parishioners will familiarize themselves with the song before the actual celebration on April 28. The Archdiocese also intended to distribute the song so people can hear it in time for the season of Lent.
